I completed my undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Chinese Studies at the University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. After graduation, I worked in a local primary school in Malaysia for one year, and then I went to further my studies at the Fudan University, Shanghai, China. I completed a master’s degree major in Ancient Chinese Literature. During which I was granted with the Excellence Foreign Student Award twice. After graduation, I worked part-time as a university lecturer teaching Chinese as a foreign language and ancient literature. During that time I found my passion in teaching, I decided to join BSKL in January 2014. Throughout my employment, I further developed myself and obtained the Teaching Certificate of Chinese as a Foreign Language in Elementary & Secondary Education and the International Chinese Teacher issued by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, Beijing, China. I also obtained the Teaching Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (CTCSOL). In addition, I am also a member of the Malaysian Sinology Association and served as a member of the association for two terms.
My hobbies are listening to music, traveling, and photography. For me, these hobbies are interconnected and build on top of each other. Music is an abstract language to be listened with the heart. Travel is to walk into the culture and customs around the world. Photography is to observe and take in every little detail. These are my foundation in expanding my knowledge of cross-cultural learning and teaching.
To me, student happiness is to provide them the opportunities and the spaces to learn, explore, and express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. BSKL provides the platform, an environment where school, education, family, and society are integrated and my role is the facilitator to help and guide the students to realize their full potential.
