Admissions FAQs

Our friendly Admissions Team is here to help you with any questions you may have about our school and the admissions process.

Admissions

How do I start the admissions process?

All information regarding Admissions is on our website. The first step would be to complete our inquiry form and we will be in touch as soon as possible.

May we visit the school?

We encourage families to visit our school. Parents are welcome to telephone or email the Admissions Officer (admissions@naisr.nl) to schedule an appointment.

What is the application process?

Once we receive your inquiry, our Admissions Officer will be in touch with you within 48 hours. We would then encourage you to come visit our school for a tour. After your visit, an online application form will be emailed to you. Should you wish to enroll your child(ren), this online application form is to be completed, which will include uploading the following documents:

  • At least two years of the most recent report cards/transcripts (three years for entry into Grade 12)
  • Proof of Date of Birth (copy of passport/ID card/Birth Certificate) and Immunization Records
  • Learning Support Documents if applicable

A Confidential Student Form will also be made available to you which is to be completed by your child(ren)'s current school. In some cases, we may determine that testing is necessary for acceptance/placement purposes. We prefer to meet the parents and potential students in person at our school, so that an interview may take place. In the case that a visit to our school is not possible, a Skype chat will take place. Following completion of this process and your child’s acceptance to our school, an invoice will be issued (see Fees and Payment Information).

Is there a deadline for applications and may students start at any time during the school year?

We accept students throughout the school year. However, availability can vary from grade to grade.

Miscellaneous

Does the School have programs for students with special needs or for students who do not speak English?

NAISR provides a variety of Learning Support services and English as an Additional Language support, tailored to fit individual needs. The Learning Support Program is designed to assist in developing the academic, behavioral and social development of students identified as in need of extra support. The Academic Leadership Team, along with the Admissions Office, will consider each child’s needs and level of support to determine acceptance/non-acceptance on a case-by-case basis. Previous reports, student/family interview, and academic assessments will be reviewed and will be part of the admissions decision.  EAL (English Additional Language) support is also available (at no extra cost) for students from Kindergarten to Grade 10 whose first language is not English and need additional language support.

What are the guidelines for grade placement?

Grade placement is confirmed when all required admissions documents have been received and viewed by Principals and the official interview (and testing if applicable) has taken place with the student.

For Pre-K through Grade 1, placement guidelines are as follows:

  • Pre-Kindergarten 1 (Pre-K1) is available for students who are three (3) years old on or before October 20 of the year of entry
  • Pre-Kindergarten 2 (Pre-K2) is available for students who are four (4) years old on or before October 20 of the year of entry
  • Kindergarten is a normal prerequisite for entry into Grade 1. For entry into Kindergarten, students should be five (5) on or before October 20 of the year of entry
  • Students should be six (6) on or before October 20 of the year of entry into Grade 1.
