Programme Overview
As a truly international school, students at NAISR arrive from a variety of diverse locations around the world. Students in our EAL (English as an Additional Language) program will always be made to feel proud of their culture and language, and their ability to be able to work in more than one language is treated as an asset that enhances their learning.
EAL support is provided to NAISR students who require the additional support at no extra cost. Teachers carefully plan individualised strategies to ensure that children who are beginning to learn English can access every aspect of our curriculum.
The EAL program at NAISR fosters inclusion and a sense of belonging for our students. This means that each EAL teacher will be working with students alongside the teacher(s) in the classroom. Though there may be times when a student could be taken out of the class for more direct, specific instruction based on his/her needs, our goal is to deliver content knowledge, language development, and academic skills at the same time. The EAL program aims to support students in their linguistic, cultural, social, and emotional transitions while providing the appropriate scaffolding to help them be successful in and out of the classroom.
If you think that your child(ren) may require EAL support upon enrolling at NAISR, please discuss this with our friendly admissions team members during your initial admissions meeting(s).
