At NAISR, Tjeerd’s Place serves around 300 students and staff every day and offers a full range of international style foods. Every day Tjeerd’s Place offers a healthy school menu including both hot and cold options.
We work to ensure that the lunch and snack options from the cafeteria are healthy, balanced and appropriate for our students and their developmental needs. The monthly school lunch menus are available each month on our website or alternatively from the front office.
You may also choose to send a lunch from home. A lunch brought from home should include healthy options, such as a sandwich, fruit and/or vegetables, and a drink (no sweets, chips, chocolate, cookies or soft drinks are allowed).
Whilst Kindergarten to Grade 12 students may eat lunch in the cafeteria, Pre-K1 and Pre-K2 students eat lunch in their classroom, where there is a chance to practice table manners and have quiet conversation.
All students need to bring a healthy snack and a drink from home for their morning recess. The morning snack is not included in the lunch ticket. We ask that you do not send sweets, chips, chocolate, cookies or soft drinks with your child but, instead, provide healthy snacks for them to eat such as fruit, granola bars, or carrot sticks, etc., along with juice, water or milk to drink.
Lunch is not the only meal served at our cafeteria; the cafeteria opens at 7:30am every school day and offers a variety of freshly baked breakfast options. Parents are always welcome to stop by for a bagel and coffee.
