Maira Kalman gives an illustrated tour of the alphabet in her Ah ha to Zig Zag. Not only does she creatively render the alphabet, but she also manages to sneaks in messages about being kind, or accepting each other's imperfections. Then she concludes her book with the inspiring tale of Cooper Hewitt Museum's co founders Nellie and Sally Hewitt.
Much has been said about the lack of diversity in children's writing. Well, Larry and Friends goes a long way in addressing this issue. Published through a Kickstarter campaign, Venezuelan illustrator and Belgian author depict Larry the Americsn dog who invites his friends from around the world to be part of his birthday celebration.
