Nord Anglia International School New York, offers a program for 2 year-olds which utilizes a child's inate curiosity and desire to explore to sow the seeds of literacy, numeracy, and language.
Our 2s program provides an engaging and challenging environment for children to begin their learning journey.
Our approach uses the Early Years Foundation Stage system of learning which hails from the UK and seeks to develop the whole child. While math, language and literacy are important, we recognize that a child learns best when they have the opportunity to also develop emotionally and socially. Our diverse curriculum utilises play, song and movement to engage and develop every student while guaranteeing that each and every day is fun and different!
Led by devoted and highly-experienced teachers, our program offers a half day program from 8:20am to 11:30am and a full day program from 8.20am to 3.30pm. Our extended day service runs beyond this to 6pm ensuring that working families have as much flexibility as possible.
Our program focuses on:
Reading and Literacy: Your child builds literacy through group story-time sessions and activities involving music and rhythm. We introduce our phonics system "Read Write Inc" in our 2s curriculum, teaching children to learn to recognize sounds in a fun and engaging way.
Foreign language: Your child picks up the building blocks of Spanish through games, song and movement.
Holistic Approach: Our teaching staff provide a safe and nurturing environment in which children can learn through play. This foundation sets them up for the next, more formal stage in learning. Our warm, nurturing environment seeks to build a confident and socially-assured child; one who is in-tune with their personality, their talents and their needs.
We use the Development Matters approach to learning, which is designed for children learning the English National Curriculum up to the age of five. This approach stresses the personal, social and emotional development of the child, as well as communication, physical development, literacy, math, art and design, and world understanding.
