CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

With numerous complementary co-curricular activities (CCAs), we provide a robust platform for your child to follow their interests and enhance their talents beyond our curriculum. As your child builds their skills, they’ll also realize their potential and become truly ambitious in pursuit of their passions.
OUR CCA OFFERINGS

ATHLETICS
Whether your child glides on their tippy-toes in ballet, kicks in taekwondo, slams in basketball, strikes in tennis, defends in soccer, or spikes in volleyball, they’ll practice every stroke with finesse and fun. No matter your child’s age or ability, we support all levels during CCAs run by our expert external coaches, who train our young athletes to build their skills of collaboration and friendly competition.

THE CREATIVE ARTS
We offer a fresh set of rotating CCAs in the creative arts every term that extend artistic abilities beyond our performing arts class time with Juilliard, for example, and allow your child to select which skills they’d like deepen, refine, or explore anew. Whether it’s music theory, art, sewing, crochet, or drama, there’s something artistic for every child.

STEAM ACTIVITIES

Your child can participate in construction, coding, robotics, math, and puzzle projects, building their skills across the STEAM subjects. Independently explored, these play-based activities further the skills they apply in MIT challenges. With greater practice and precision, they’ll use a variety of tools and techniques from problem solving to collaboration.

COMMON INTERESTS
Your child can get involved in clubs for Chess, Model United Nations, Newspaper, Yearbook, and Games, where they’ll collaborate with peers on common interests, learn new strategies, and create plans on both local and global scales. Your child will work with others across year groups, which allows older students to mentor younger ones.

GET INVOLVED

Parents play a critical role in their children’s learning journeys, so we encourage them to get involved at NAISNY, support our community, and empower our children.

The NAISNY PTA plays a key role for the well-being of the entire community by welcoming new families and organizing different events, like parent mixers with guest speakers, family picnics, or coffee chats with the principal. In the past, our parents have even created a NAISNY Cookbook to celebrate our families’ international heritage through many delicious recipes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Do you offer after-school care at NAISNY?
Yes! We have an extensive Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) program that all children, starting from the age of three, can participate in. We offer a variety of both paid and free clubs and sports. Our Upper School students have been enjoying Robot Sumo and Running Club, while our younger children are having fun in Cooking Club and Construction Club. Every term, the options for CCAs change, so our students are having an interesting array of unique experiences. We also offer Aftercare until 6:00 pm every day.
  • How does NAISNY communicate with parents?
We communicate both face to face and digitally on at least a daily basis with all parents. The app ClassDojo is our main form of communication between teachers and parents. With this app, parents can see photos shared by their child’s teacher from the day’s activities. There’s also a whole-school “story” to keep parents in the loop on school-wide events and activities. Additionally, we communicate with parents via a weekly newsletter and direct emails from teachers and staff.

Each month, we hold Coffee Chats with our Principal and Deputy Head, allowing parents to gather for a casual conversation with NAISNY’s leaders. We also hold Parent Teacher Conferences and send home Learning Reports, so parents can better understand their child’s progress.
  • How do NAISNY parents get involved?
NAISNY parents have plenty of opportunities to get involved with school activities. Each parent is a member of the PTA and is invited to participate in monthly meetings, event planning, and volunteering. Parents’ collective involvement truly enriches the lives of our students and parents.
  • What does school lunch look like at NAISNY?
Our in-house chefs offer lunch every day. There’s always a healthy hot food bar with a vegetarian and non-vegetarian option. There’s also a salad bar filled with fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as a deli for children to build their own sandwiches.

Lunch is a great time for students to socialize with their younger and older counterparts. Especially in the Early Years, we encourage their use of cutlery and trying new foods to build their independence and life skills.
  • Do you have transportation options?
Yes! We have a free public-school bus that provides service to students living in Manhattan. We also have Student MetroCard options. Please reach out if you have further transportation questions.
