Maya Smith

Learning Assistant

Maya is currently completing a bachelors degree in Psychology at Saint Mary of the Woods College. Maya previously worked as a toddler room teacher, a full-time nanny and personal tutor reflective of her love for educational enrichment.

In her early years, she taught Kindergarten on the Lakota Sioux reservation in South Dakota where she was immersed in the culture and brought back new insights to teaching and learning. Maya is also an active member of the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and continues to volunteer in New York City. 

Maya is eager to showcase her love of education and help provide effective and engaging experiences for students as a Learning Assistant at NAISNY. She believes that through diversity and a positive culture of academia, she can help create exciting and engaging learning experiences as a Learning Assistant. 

After graduation in December 2019, Maya hopes to continue her studies with an Executive Master’s Degree in International Education though Kings College of London.
