Overcoming nervousness in school and making the 'perfect friend recipe'

In our assembly this week the children thought about a time when they felt scared or nervous about something. We went on to explain that sometimes having a new experience could be daunting like coming to the school for the first time or meeting a new teacher. The children were introduced to the members of staff they could talk to if they felt nervous around the school. They then thought about friends and how they can help.

We used a variety of ingredients such as kindness, understanding, patience and encouragement to make the 'perfect friend recipe' and encouraged children to be good friends to each other in the next few weeks.
