This week, Year 5 have made their very own marbling prints!

Local Artist Karen Heng has been teaching the children how to use different techniques to create unique patterns. The results are very eye catching! The children thoroughly enjoyed the process and were mesmerized.

We are lucky to be supporting a local artist in difficult times and we are very grateful to Slik Studios. This is the workshop the children were due to do in Year 4 but due to Covid it was cancelled. We are very happy to have now given the children this opportunity. The children have been exploring all different types of art movements for their new Project Work Unit ‘They See the World Like This’. They have already found out about Impressionism, Cubism and Japanese block printing. Still to come we have abstract art and even political art! Needless to say we are having lots of fun in Year 5.

“I enjoyed the satisfying effect of some of my designs made on paper and I was eager to try out new ideas” – Juliet

“Miss Karen really inspired me to be creative with my marbling art” – Yuki

“The marbling is created by using denser water made out of seaweed so that the ink floats on the top” - Jack

“I enjoyed creating different patterns and testing out lots of different colours. It was really free and creative” – Giacomo

“Unbelievable” – Ran

“I never though I would enjoy it this much and that I could create such a thing as what I’ve done today!” - Bruno
