Welcome from the Principal
A very warm welcome to Dover Court International School, my name is Simon Mann and I joined DCIS as interim Principal in August 2020.
I am absolutely delighted to be joining such an established and unique school as Dover Court. DCIS is well known for its approach to personalised learning and its inclusive ethos, having worked in SE Asia for nearly 15 years, I am excited to be part of the community this year.
Joining a new school can be a daunting prospect, but having spent time with the Leadership and Staff at Dover Court I know that it is a wonderfully warm and welcoming school which is focused on nurturing all students, guiding them to achieve their very best both academically and personally. The teachers are passionate, experienced professionals dedicated to providing a challenging and supporting environment full of meaningful experiences.
In December 2019, Dover Court received its Council of International School (CIS) accreditation and in their letter of recommendation the evaluation team said:
DCIS is a mission-driven school. High-quality teaching and learning that meets the needs of all students is clearly evident. To complement academic challenge, they celebrate diversity and promote social responsibility in and out of the classroom. Global citizenship and intercultural awareness are evident at DCIS. This is enhanced by the cultural diversity of the students and supported by the NAE global family. Providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment allows students and staff the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Dover Court is not a selective school, we welcome students of all academic abilities and it’s because we offer support for many different academic, social and emotional needs that our student population is incredibly diverse. Our school community reflects the wider global community and everyone benefits from this. We foster students who are empathetic, accepting and understanding, qualities that we all hope our children will have as they grow up and forge their own independent paths in the world.
Accepting students of all abilities does not mean we are any less ambitious for every single learner. We not only have students who will graduate with more than 40 points in the IBDP programme and gain entry to the world’s top universities but also we support students for whom success will be marked by acquiring the skills and qualifications to allow them to secure productive and fulfilling jobs and subsequently have independent lives. Every learner achieving their potential and doing their very best is at the heart of everything we do.
I invite you to come and visit our school and see outstanding teaching and learning in progress and savour the unique atmosphere that we are so very proud of.
