Stephanie’s teaching career began in at Newmilns Primary School Ayrshire, Scotland where she taught for four years in various year groups throughout the Primary school. Here she was involved in many aspects of the school, including leading Enterprise Development across the school and running a number of diverse extra-curricular clubs including sewing, paper crafts, iPad maths, games, basketball and boxercise. She was also the teacher representative on the school council.
Stephanie is passionate about developing children’s thinking skills, as this is a strategy proven to raise attainment across the curriculum as well as providing valuable skills for the future. She does this by infusing her classroom teaching with opportunities for the children to become independent enquirers, creative thinkers and team workers, as well as reflective and effective learners.
After travelling to Singapore and Malaysia, Stephanie fell in love with Asia and initially moved to Hong Kong, where she worked in Yew Chung International School for three years. During her time there she was fully involved in curriculum development and was a founding member of the Mathematics Development Team. She also gained her certification for teaching English as a Second Language in Mainstream Education. She is delighted to be a part of the DCIS teaching team.
Outside of school, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter. She also loves exploring Asia and is a keen baker.
