Prior to teaching, Gemma enjoyed a successful career as a multi-media news reporter, working for the National Newspapers in the UK and was Runner Up for Best Story of the Year in 2013. She then moved to New Zealand and worked for the award winning, New Zealand Herald in Auckland. Gemma's teaching career began in Manchester where she taught English literature and language to KS3 and KS4. Her experience developed her passion for guiding students to be successful young people within school, their local community and worldwide. A firm believer that every child matters, Gemma aims to instil a lifelong passion for learning within her students to assist them in realising their true talents.
Outside of school, Gemma is a keen runner and enjoys competing in half marathons. She keeps up to date with international current affairs and operates a travel blog to inspire and encourage other families to travel with children.
