Staff Profile: Joanne Harris

Joanne Long

Secondary School Mathematics Teacher

Joanne studied at Loughborough University for three years to gain a B.Sc (Hons) in Mathematics.

On graduating, Joanne spent two years working in supply chain management for global food company ABF. She chose to study her PGCE in Southampton before moving back to the north of the UK to complete her NQT year. She worked in the UK for 4 years where she taught mathematics to all abilities. After seeking a change in scenery Joanne moved to DCIS, where she has thoroughly enjoyed being involved in all areas of the curriculum. She helps run the DCIS swim squad as well as running a maths competition club as part of the ECA curriculum.

Joanne loves the outdoors and enjoys walking in the mountains. She has supported 20 students in completing a trekking challenge in Switzerland and is hoping to run the trip again in the future.

Outside of school Joanne enjoys keeping fit and travelling with her husband Dan, and their friends. They hope to expand their travels around Asia by visiting as many countries as possible in the school holidays!
