Leon Bown

Dover Court International School Singapore Leon Bown

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher (Full Time)

Leon has a degree in English Language and Psychology from Open University. In 2012, whilst living in Madrid, he gained a CELTA qualification from The British Language Centre.

Originally from Liverpool England, Leon studied Performing Arts before embarking on his early
career in theatre and television. Following this Leon was a Road Safety Professional working with young children in schools and helping to pioneer several road safety initiatives whilst studying for a Professional Diploma in Accident and Safety Management. Coming to his undergraduate studies later in life with the Open University, Leon specialised in English Language and Psychology.

In 2012, whilst living in Madrid, he gained a CELTA qualification from The British Language Centre and has been teaching English as an additional language ever since. Leon has also lived in The Cayman Islands and Vietnam, where he has continued his EAL teaching career. Leon is a strong advocate for child-led learning with a strong emphasis on engaging students through practical activities.

Since leaving the profession Leon has continued to act in and direct numerous productions as well as appear in several Vietnamese films and provide voice overs for documentaries and advertisements. Leon is also an accomplished singer and musician having played in bands since he was 16 years old. Leon has a passion for rugby and although his playing career is over he still enjoys watching and coaching the game as well as supporting his beloved Liverpool F.C.
