Originally from Devon in the UK, David initially worked in sales and marketing roles for a range of global clothing/footwear brands. However, after gaining a CELTA qualification and teaching English as an additional language for students aged 3 to 18, David pursued his love of teaching further and completed his PGCE. He has since taught students across key stages 1 and 2 internationally.
David brings an open mind, warmth, diligence, and high expectations to the classroom each day. He passionately believes that each child brings their own unique strengths, interests, and talents to the classroom environment.
David believes that the classroom should be a place which stimulates and engages students, and he encourages students to collaborate and take ownership of their learning. He ensures that positive relationships and student agency are at the heart of his teaching in order for children to feel happy, safe and challenged whilst they learn. Keen to nurture children in developing their own interests and passions, David also successfully grew a chess club into a league and inter-house tournament for children.
David lives with his wife who is also a teacher. Outside of school he enjoys playing chess and is often seen cycling around the island of Singapore. He is also an avid fan of Formula One. In his former years he played the euphonium in a local brass band.
