After graduating, Jodie initially worked in the UK where she taught in Years 3-6 and was the PE Co-ordinator for the school. She coached many sports and also took the netball team to the national finals.
Jodie prides herself on making a difference and getting to know each child holistically and individually so she can find ways to help them reach their full potential.
Jodie has a very nurturing approach in the classroom and believes a classroom runs smoothly and effectively when there is a balance between clear, high expectations and boundaries, approachability, enthusiasm, authenticity and positivity, all based upon mutual respect.
In 2015 Jodie started her international teaching adventure, initially in Kuwait where she taught in Years 3 and 4 and also mentored newly qualified teachers. She thrived on helping other teachers reach their potential and making sure high-quality learning was at the heart of teaching practice. Jodie was also the lead for behaviour in the school, promoting a growth mind set in the children and developing their self-belief. Following her adventure in Kuwait, Jodie headed to China where she taught in Year 3 and was the English Coach for the school. She enjoyed helping staff to make their lessons engaging and creative and was even able to get the boys to enjoy writing! She also held workshops for staff and parents sharing strategies to engage learners with English.
Outside of school Jodie has a passion for travelling for the world. She loves immersing herself in new cultures and is delighted to have already ticked so many things off her bucket list. As well as travel, Jodie enjoys playing a variety of sports, going to the cinema and trying out new restaurants. She is delighted to be part of the Dover Court community.
