News from Deputy Head of Primary, Michael Waterhouse

26 September 2014

High Performance Learning is a cornerstone of the education we offer at The British School, Warsaw.  We employ good teachers and nurture them with regular training to ensure they are delivering a stimulating and effective education for your children. All of us, parents and teachers, want our children to succeed and we do our best to get the highest attainment out of them. However, that is not the only thing education is about. I also like to see children who enjoy their lessons, laugh and have fun with their teachers, because this will help create in them a love for being in school and a love for learning. If we can produce Lifetime Learners we will have a generation of adaptable, open minded people ready to face any challenge.

With my new-comer’s eyes, I am also continually impressed with the quality of facilities this school offers. I have taught in excellent schools in other countries and the most important tool in educating children anywhere is a good dedicated teacher; but try teaching piano without a keyboard! We need excellent facilities to make the experience possible in some respects, and much more enjoyable and effective in others.  We have great Music, ICT, Arts and PE departments here that stretch our children intellectually, artistically and physically.  It is no surprise to me, therefore, that I see so many happy confident children signing up for after school clubs, they like being here, they like succeeding. They are well on the way to being Lifetime Learners.
