News from Head of Primary, Zoe Richardson

08 May 2015

Thanks for a great production!
Thank you to everyone who made the two shows such fun to be in and to watch!

Thank you to...
the audience for coming - for laughing at the funny bits and for clapping so much.
the pupils- for the eight weeks of rehearsals, the word-learning, the enthusiasm, the team spirit
and the talent the parents who sewed costumes, put on make-up, heard lines being learnt, put up with countless renditions of songs out of context, and for all the organisation of family that made attendance possible the staff who taught, encouraged, demonstrated at rehearsals and then performed the back-ofstage functions that made the show happen It was worth it!!!

Year Six Graduation Please be aware that the Year Six graduation date has been moved to Wednesday 24th June. The graduation will take place in the school Dining Hall and will commence promptly at 1700.

Class groups for September 2015
This year I will not be making any major changes to class groupings. Obviously there will be
minor changes when the number of classes in a year group is increasing (Reception to Year 1, Year 1 to Year 2, Year 5 to Year 6) or decreasing (Year 2 to Year 3, Year 4 to Year 5). In the majority of cases, students have formed firm friendships over the past 12 months and it is important that as they commence a new academic year, that they feel secure in their social circles. Please make an appointment to see me, should you wish to discuss this further.

Summer Learning Festival
I would like to invite all parents to Summer Learning Festival on Wednesday 17th June, commencing at 6.30pm. With the summer holidays soon to start, several parents have already asked how they can keep their children’s learning ticking over. Students often return in September feeling their progress has really slipped after a summer off. Teachers, having ended the year with the class exactly where they wanted them, have to change gear and remember that they are back at the beginning of a new year’s educational journey: a wake-up call for us all! Happily, the holidays are a chance for all the school-based learning to be applied to real life situations. Please join us at the Summer Learning Festival to explore some hands-on activities you can do over the summer with your children to ensure that they keep on learning (and having fun) during the long holiday.
