IB Diploma Programme celebrates 50th birthday

The International Baccalaureate organisation just celebrated its 50 years of existence while here at The British School we hosted our 15th IB graduation ceremony.

The IBDP at TBS continues to grow in numbers and continues to provide excellent results.  For me personally, I am celebrating my 25th year with the IB Diploma Programme believing, today more than ever, that it is the best secondary and pre-university programme available world-wide.

The IB mission statement as well as the IB Learner profile are even more relevant today than they were at their inception in 1968. The IB DP is a challenging programme that emphasises a renaissance form of education that fosters the learning of skills and knowledge acquisition across many areas while encouraging such attributes as tolerance, empathy and international mindedness. It complements our Primary and Secondary curricula whilst echoing The British School’s Mission and Vision statements.

Alongside the academically rigorous six subject programme students enjoy lessons in Theory of Knowledge with its open-ended discussions and the writing of a research paper (the Extended Essay) further builds on the strength of this programme
