Miss…. We didn’t realise there was so much to do behind the scenes

This was just one reaction from members of our school leadership teams who shadowed our senior leaders around school on World Children’s Day this week.

Sts Secondary taking over

It was Student Takeover day and our offices and meeting rooms were ‘taken over’ by students to great effect. They participated in Learning Walks, Calendar Committee meetings, IBDP leadership meetings, planning of trips and activities and replacing us at our desks.

This was a wonderful way for our students to learn what goes on behind the scenes, understand how formal meetings work and make decisions on the spot based on the evidence before them – ‘Matilda, Gaja, should this trip be approved?’  I am glad to say that these two girls who shadowed me for the morning did approve and sign off on all four of the proposed trips that came before them at the Calendar Committee meeting, well done girls!

I look forward to participating again next year and enabling our students to ‘lead’ for the day and really benefit from active involvement in the leadership of our school.
