Sport this week

Another busy sporting week in the PE department kicked off last weekend with a bumper Saturday of sports events.

With more fixtures coming our way over the next week, be sure to keep checking the newsletter for updates on how our sports performers are getting on!

Saturday was a chance for our development squads to get some friendly game play experience against the Playmaker Academy. Both the U9 and U11 squads had a game with the aim being for the teams to gain some experience of playing in a fixture against an opportunity. There was a really positive atmosphere around the pitch with many spectators braving the cold. Lots of goals were scored and the students loved the experience which for many was the first time playing a game of this nature. With an indoor tournament taking place today, watch this space for more football stories next week!

A very busy basketball week this week. Saturday saw our year 9&10 basketball players take part in a 4v4 tournament and keep up our excellent record this year by bringing home 3rd place. The boys played 7 short games in 2.5 hours and demonstrated excellent tenacity and intensity throughout. This week also saw the culmination of the group rounds of the district tournament for both the U19 boys and girls teams. I’m delighted to share with you that both teams have qualified for the next stage which begins next week. The girls topping their group and the boys defying the odds having never won a game in the high school category before this year. The basketball is showing no signs of slowing down with our first friendly fixture against American school Warsaw taking place tonight and 4 fixtures for different age groups taking place at TBS on Sunday. Check back next week to see how these fixtures and tournaments have gone.

A huge thanks to all the coaches and parents who supported each event and team!

Good luck to the U19 boys and girls who are currently in Budapest competing in the NAE tournament. The competition is sure to be first but the commitment to training, hard work and effort put in by both squads should see them well prepared.
