Geography clinics helping students find their way

"The mock is just around the block!" ...

  • n

...is a phrase ringing true for many Year 11 students just now, as their iGCSE mock examinations are lurking around the corner, in just under 4 weeks time. In Geography, we decided to allay these fears a wee bit, and are currently running weekly Exam based Topic Specific Clinics right up until the mocks, every Thursday 16.15 to max 18.00 in L 102.

This week's first mock preparation clinic was "Find Your Way to Success in Paper 2", focussing chiefly on Map Skills, a key Paper 2 component. Students got focussed individual coaching by Mr Bezodis and Mr Stimpson through areas students find challenging and re-mastered some early Year 10 skills. Practice at past papers is the most effective way of familiarizing oneself with content, pace, expectations and exam question tips.

All this culminates in a far higher level of preparation, and with that, a refreshed confidence to tackle their mocks, arguably the most important exam before the 'real-deal' in May 2020.

All Year 11 Geography students are welcome to drop-in and practice some skills! No need to sign up, just pop in! L102, Mr Stimpson's room, Thursday's 16.15 to max 18.00.

See you next week for the "Rivers Refresher Course"! "
