Pleased to meet You... Emma Smith

This week we are pleased to meet Emma Smith who is the Year 3 Teacher

  • Emma Smith

Where are you from originally?

I am originally from Gloucestershire in the UK, but spent my early childhood growing up in Abu Dhabi.  I was there until I was 7 years old, so I have personal experience of being an expat child in an international school setting.

Have you lived in any other countries?

I have been lucky enough to live in many other countries. I have lived in the UAE, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, Oman, the USA and now Poland.

Where and what did you study for your education?

I initially studied for an Honors Bachelor Degree in English Literature at the University of Wales, Bangor.  I then went on to study for my PGCE in Primary School Teaching at the University of Gloucestershire.

How long have you been at TBS?

This is my first year here, so four weeks!  I am really enjoying it so far.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at our school?

I am enjoying many things so far - teaching the IPC again, working with supportive professionals, working with the enthusiastic and dedicated students.  There is a lot to enjoy!

What are you most looking forward to in the 2019/2020 academic year?

I am looking forwards to many things - teaching all the fun IPC topics to come, being a part of the Christmas Giving Tree trip to Gdansk/Sopot and helping my students be successful in Year 3.

Whose your favourite historian/scientist/literary figure and why?

My favourite literary figure is Terry Pratchett.  His books have been making me laugh since I was fourteen as they are a brilliant satire of our world in a fantastical setting.

What is your favourite thing about living in Warsaw, Poland?

I love the green parks, the wonderful variety of restaurants and the stunning architechture found in the Old Town.

What do you miss most from home?

My family.
