Where are you from originally?
I was born and raised in a small city in Central Canada.
Have you lived in any other countries?
I have been living abroad for almost 10 years. Previous to moving to Poland, I was in Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
Where and what did you study for your education?
I currently have a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada. I am also working on completing a Master of Early Childhood Education degree online through the University of British Columbia, Canada.
How long have you been at TBS Warsaw?
Only a month now! It’s been a busy but fun time settling into my new role as Nursery class teacher.
What do you enjoy most about teaching at our school?
The children of course! There is a certain magic to teaching in the early years that I have always been drawn too. Aside from my time with my students, I am also enjoying the opportunity to learn from my colleagues and apply my own studies in the classroom.
What are you most looking forward to in the 2019/2020 academic year?
Again, it’s all about the students for me. I have a lovely class with the Nursery Tigers this year, and I am looking forward to us learning and growing together.
Whose your favourite historian/scientist/literary figure and why?
While I couldn’t pick just one character, one of my favourite children’s books is ‘We’re Going On a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen. Most children catch on to the repetitive nature of the story quickly, making it a favourite in most of my previous classrooms to tell over and over. Plus it gives us the opportunity to make all sorts of silly sounds!
What is your favourite thing about living in Warsaw, Poland?
I am really enjoying how easy it is to get around the city. There are so many options for transport which are actually fairly accessible unlike in my previous homes. Also, the fact that you’re never too far from a park is an added bonus!
What do you miss most from home?
My family of course (and good poutine).
