Message from our Head of IBDP

Welcome back and happy New Year to all parents and students.

Speaking to the students this week it is clear that they have spent some time unwinding, catching up on some much needed sleep, and for many spent valuable time with families. They seem genuinely happy to be back in school, and also keen to get stuck into the term and activities ahead.

For Year 12s and Pre-IB students the term starts with mid-year exams, which helps them understand where they are in terms of their learning, plus for some, experience the formality of IB-styled exams for the first time. After this, the Year 12s start in earnest on their Extended Essay preparation and start to focus on learning about the processes involved with applying to different universities.

For our Year 13s this is sadly their final full term. They have just received their December mock examination results and many have finalised their applications and applied to universities, with some already holding impressive offers that they received over the Christmas holidays. This term is all about final submission dates for their internal assessments in their various subjects. Soon enough for the Year 13s, April 8th (their final official full day in school) will come all too quickly.

Between then and now we have our Tanzania Natron trip, our Summit Kilimanjaro trip, our Senior Ski trip, Studniowka, and the Nord Anglia Basketball all to look forward to.

A very busy and eventful term indeed ahead.
