Does a rubber band power a car?

This week, Year 5 have been learning about forces and investigating whether an elastic band will power a car.

Through this investigation they have been focusing on the IPC personal learning goal ‘thinker’. To show this PLG in their lessons, the children have focused on analyzing issues, finding solutions, explaining their ideas and evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. The children have done this by making their own car using different materials and testing their design to see if they can improve it. Then, they raced their cars against each other and evaluated the effectiveness of their design to see what they could modify next time.
