Everyone will know someone who has been directly or indirectly affected by the pandemic this year and at the time of writing this, we are all currently in lockdown making it much harder for us to show that we care for the ones that we love. I am constantly amazed at the resilience of our children as we continue the online learning program and we find new ways to work together.
It is important at this time that children are reminded of the value of self-care – taking the time to do something rewarding that they enjoy. This could be as simple as quiet time reading a book, going for a walk or taking some time to practice mindfulness. We are lucky in primary to have a group of wellbeing leaders amongst out students who are always looking at ways of promoting mental health strategies and ways to relax. A great example of this is their Christmas advent calendar with each day providing children with a different opportunity to relax and tune-out the outside world. Further activities linked to relaxation, mindfulness and self-care can be found here online at the GLOBAL CAMPUS PORTAL
We must not forget the difficulties faced by others which have been exasperated by the pandemic and will not easily recede in the post Covid world. This winter, TBS Warsaw will once again demonstrate care for the wider community through the Christmas Giving Tree project. The level of support for this initiative within our school is enormous and everyone should be proud to belong to such a compassionate group.
