From Pre-Nursery to Reception, our curriculum aligns with the EYFS Framework. In Year 1, our students start following a perfect blend of English National Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum (IPC).

THE SEVEN AREAS OF LEARNING

EYFS Curriculum

Early Years children play, explore and create through activities shaped by the EYFS Seven Areas of Learning. The areas are designed to promote their interests while adapting to individual students’ needs and stimulating their passion for learning.

PRIMARY AREAS:

 

  1. PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
    Children learn to understand their feelings through stories, playing and communication.

  2. COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE
    Children develop confidence and skills to express themselves.

  3. PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
    Students gain motor skills through outdoor exploration and exercising.

    EYFS Curriculum

    1. LITERACY
      Early on, children understand sounds and rhythm. They learn reading, writing and phonics through stories, role play and motor skills activities.

      Our little ones develop their understanding of shapes, size, weight and numbers through real-life contexts.

      Children investigate the natural environment, learn about the past and present, and compare communities around the world.

      Learning through play
      Activities inside and outside the classroom start at 9:00 AM. They introduce our early learners to maths, phonics, language literacy, and independent play. Children are encouraged to ask questions, and engage in dialogue with their teacher and their friends.

      Enjoying lunch together in a wholesome family atmosphere -  learning continues naturally as children become familiar with table manners and healthy eating habits, while developing their social skills.

      After lunch, our little ones from Pre-Nursery and Nursery can enjoy a well-deserved nap. Their older friends from Reception and Year 1 use this time to focus on their physical development.

      Arts and crafts, writing and creating stories and child-led play guided by their interests, fill the afternoon in our stimulating early years environment.  Our children try new activities, learn to take risks, and build lasting friendships with their peers.

      Time for Home! 
      After a full day of learning, our youngest children are collected by their parents at 3:00 PM. Starting from Nursery, they can engage in extracurricular activities which usually last from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The activities change termly.

      ASSESSMENT

      We regularly check in to see how our Early Years students are progressing, what they can do, and what they know. Parents have access to an online learning journal, where they can observe how their children progress during the course of the year. They are welcome to join us for Focus Weeks, designed to concentrate on each child's individual development - meetings can be conducted in person or online.

      In Reception, we put a great emphasis on reading and phonics - children's progress is evaluated every half-term. At the end of Reception, our young students are assessed against the EYFS’s Early Learning Goals.

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

      • When does the school start?

        For the academic year 2026/2027, the first day of school is 25th August 2026.
        For the new students, we organize an Orientation Day on 24th August, so they get to know our facility and staff before the official first day of school. For more important dates, check our school calendar.

      • Can I enroll my child in the middle of the semester?

        Yes, here at The British School Warsaw, we accept admissions throughout the entire year.

      • What if I can’t collect my child at 3:00 PM?

        Since Nursery, children can stay after 3:00 PM and enjoy extracurricular activities, which usually last until 4:00 PM. If they have siblings at Main Campus on Limanowska Street, they can stay in after-care until 5:00 PM - this option is available per request only.

      • Do students wear uniforms?
        It depends on the year group. In Pre-Nursery and Nursery, uniforms are not required. Kids need to wear them starting from Reception onward. New uniforms can be purchased via trutex.com/eu. There’s also an option to buy second-hand uniforms – available each Monday from 8:00 to 8:30 AM on the main Campus at Limanowska 15 Street.
      • What are the opening hours?
        The school opens at 8:30 AM, however there's an early morning drop-off option available from 8:00 AM for some stages. Registration starts from 8:30 and lasts until 9:00 AM, when classes begin. Normally, the day ends at 3:00 PM, but for children participating in extracurricular activities or staying in the after-care, it may vary between 4:00 and 5:00 PM.
      • Is after-care additionally paid?

        No. After-care doesn’t require additional payment.

      • Do you accept children who still wear diapers?
        Yes, for Pre-Nursery, that’s not an issue. Our facility is equipped with changing tables, and our trained staff are available to ensure that children wearing diapers are properly cared for. 
      • How does the adaptation process look?
        Here, at TBS Warsaw, we are aware that getting used to a new environment, especially for our youngest ones, can be a challenging process. We strive to ensure the transition proceeds as smoothly as possible by tailoring the experience to each child's individual needs.When available, we recommend that parents remain with their children for a longer period at the beginning of the day, allowing them to adjust to the new environment at their own pace. As they progress, that time is gradually shortened until the child accommodates.
      • Are there foreign languages included in the Early Years curriculum?
        Yes! We offer a Spanish Club, which children in Reception and Year 1 can join as an extracurricular activity. The club meets once a week. Depending on the term, there might be a Polish Club available as well. You will always find the updated list of the clubs in our reception.
