Student Health & Wellbeing

We take the health, safety and well-being of our students very seriously. The school’s responsibility for your child extends beyond academic success to their social and emotional development, and so we provide a caring environment that supports the whole child.

Student Wellbeing

Our form tutors, heads of year, and the Secondary Pastoral Lead have developed a rich pastoral ethos throughout The British School Warsaw. We have small tutor groups in the secondary school, which allows form tutors to create strong relationships with their students.

Students learn about health and wellbeing through a well-structured PSHE programme and related theme days, where they develop the life skills needed to be healthy, well-rounded individuals.

Medical Care

Our school has a contract with Falck medical services, and the school medical room is staffed at all times by two qualified nurses.

Our medical staff are our first port of call if a child is unwell or hurt at school. The school nurse staff will assess the student and offer basic medical assistance.  If additional medical treatment or assessment is required, then a Falck doctor will be called to the school and the child’s parent contacted. We require parents to complete the school medical forms issued when their child first joins the school, and both they and the staff will keep these regularly updated throughout the school year. These forms cover standard questions about the child’s medical history and are available in both Polish and English versions.

We bring in additional medical staff (for example, doctors or paramedics) as required for support when we host events such as sports competitions, drama productions and larger school activities like fetes and fairs.

Medical Services Operating Hours

The school medical room is normally open between 8am – 5pm. However, the nurses will often be at school beyond 5pm due to the busy nature of our school and the number of activities that run beyond 5pm on any given day.
