Words from School Principal

Words from School Principal

Dear Parents,

It is wonderful to see so many students back in school, and despite the slightly wet start, I hope they have enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones.

I would like to formally welcome all our new families to BISW for the 2021-22 academic year. We all hope that the transition to BISW and, in many cases, DC has been a smooth one so far. My sincere thanks go to our Admissions Team. I would also like to congratulate Amanda Carbury (formerly Lewis), who managed to fit a wedding around the busy summer admissions period.

I am sure that there will be a few quirks as everyone adjusts to a new school year, and we welcome all concerns, suggestions and comments both large and small, and we will endeavour to address them.

I kindly remind parents that one of the best mitigation strategies we have is to check our children every morning and ensure they are healthy before sending them to school. As a reminder, DC Health forms need to be returned to the school nurse (nurse@biswashington.org) as soon as possible.

We are now looking forward to our first full week of school and ensuring a great learning experience for all as we venture full steam ahead into the Fall term.

One of the most challenging moments this week has been decided on the topic for my newsletter idioms. In the end, I have decided on ‘Agricultural Idioms’ because there is a bumper crop of them available!

Agricultural Idiom of Week

bumper crop – is when you get an unusually large amount of something

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend.
