Parent Drop Off & Pick Up
Many students arrive by car and get dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. The school turning circle on Whitehaven Street offers the most manageable drop-off and pick-up options. Parents with students in Reception or younger may also utilize the garage. Please refer to the parent handbook for policies and procedures regarding safe drop-off and pick-up.
Arrival Time
Students may arrive any time after 8 a.m. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. for Secondary School and 8:30 a.m. for Primary School.
Bus Service
Students attend the British International School of Washington from all over the D.C. area. BISW provides school bus service to families who live within a reasonable distance from the school. We offer morning and afternoon bus service to a wide variety of neighbourhoods in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia.
Our bus service area includes but is not limited to the following locations:
- Alexandria, VA
- Bethesda, MD
- Chevy Chase, MD
- Downtown DC
- DC Northwest
- Falls Church, VA
- McLean, VA
- Vienna, VA
