Many families tell us their children feel shy, hesitant, or unsure - especially when speaking English aloud. Our response is simple: confidence is a skill. Just like a muscle, it strengthens through practice. When students are given regular opportunities to speak, present, question and explore, their belief in themselves grows naturally.
Unlike traditional systems that prioritise memorisation, PBIS focuses on critical thinking, research and analysis. In today’s world, answers are available in seconds. What matters more is the ability to evaluate information, challenge ideas and form independent opinions.
This can feel unfamiliar at first, especially for students who are used to being rewarded only for correct answers. At PBIS, mistakes are not something to avoid. They are essential to learning. Our classrooms are designed as safe environments where students take intellectual risks. Confidence grows when children know they can try, fail, reflect and try again.
As Olga shared, our “hidden curriculum” is self-belief, empowering students to aim high and become the best version of themselves.
