A reflection on how much has been achieved over the past twelve months

Could this be the Regents first gymnastic champion? He already is. He may look little, but 5 year old Ian from Year 1 certainly has Big Dreams.

Just when we thought it might be nice to have a conference of some type for local Primary Schools, along comes Scotch Oakburn College with an invitation to visit their beautiful campuses in Tasmania for a Young Round Square Conference.

All the knowledge that I learnt from the trip and the things I did during the trip will help me in the future. I am going share all of my experiences from this trip with my family, friends and the whole assembly at my school.

Regents has just launched a cutting-edge learning programme for children aged 7 to 11 who are new to English. Known as ‘Intensive +’, the programme is unique to Regents. It is based on up-to-date research which recognises that, whilst many mainstream subjects are a challenge for children who are new to English, it is essential that they participate in ‘active learning’ scenarios with their peers in Music, Singing, Sport and ICT.

One of the most exciting outcomes from The Juilliard Continuing Professional Development was that we got to meet our Juilliard Curriculum Specialist, Kathryn Anderson, who is linked to our school and will be working alongside the Regents Music Staff to introduce and embed the curriculum. Kathryn will be visiting us 3 times this year and is very excited about her first trip to Regents at the end of October.

What a great start to the Year we’ve had. I knew this School was special when I made a preliminary visit in May, but the students here have a passion and bravery like nothing I’ve ever witnessed before.

An opportunity like this takes you out of your comfort zone. Living in a new country and working in an international school, throws new challenges at you daily. It keeps you on your toes and ensures that you are ready for anything!

130 teachers across Primary and Secondary came together for a morning of talks, activities and practical advice sessions on supporting children for whom English is not their first language. ‘It was great to be with Secondary colleagues and get to know them a bit better,’ commented an Early Years specialist.

Regents staff are awarded 3 out of 6 prestigious awards.
