Last week, Year 4 spent three days in Khao Yai National Park on a residential trip to enhance their knowledge of rainforests in Thailand, whilst also developing their social and independence skills.

Spanning four provinces, Khao Yai is one of Thailand’s largest national parks, taking the children and staff members 5 hours on the road to reach their destination from our school campus here in Pattaya. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its mountainous landscape, with towering waterfalls and lush rainforests.

Head of Year 4, Mr Jon Way describes what the children got up to on their trip:

"The children took part in a variety of activities such as rainforest hikes to explore the animals and plants that can be found in rainforests; grassland walks with a focus on identifying animal tracks and droppings; a visit to Huaw Sawat Waterfall to support their creative writing whilst on the trip; a night safari to observe the nocturnal activity of the animals that can be found in Khao Yai; and games and tasks to develop their social interaction skills.

They were even lucky enough to see wild elephants!"

The children will be using their experiences of this educational trip to Khao Yai National Park to extend their class learning and to put their understanding into context.
