Our Juilliard Experience: Inspiring Growth Through the Performing Arts

Our Juilliard Experience: Inspiring Growth Through the Performing Arts - Saint George School The Julliard Experience
SGS PF The Julliard Experience
This past October, our Performing Arts and Music Corner team had the incredible opportunity to take part in an intensive three-day Juilliard training at Colegio Menor in Quito, Ecuador — a Nord Anglia school that, like Saint George, believes deeply in the power of the arts to transform education.
Those three days were filled with learning, collaboration, and inspiration. We worked closely with The Juilliard School’s Curriculum Specialists, exploringThe Creative Classroom — Juilliard’s digital platform that offers access to lessons, videos, and teaching resources built around core works in music, dance, and drama.
Throughout the training, we discovered how Juilliard’s approach connects students with great works of art and performance, cultivating creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking. The vision is that every Saint George student — from 1st through 12th grade — will have the chance, at some point in their school journey, to experience the three disciplines: dance, drama, and music.
Beyond the sessions, we also engaged in rich conversations with fellow educators from other Nord Anglia schools across America. Sharing experiences and hearing about different realities broadened our perspectives and left us even more motivated to continue strengthening the Performing Arts program at Saint George.
One of the most exciting parts of this collaboration is what comes next. Throughout this academic year, we’ll be welcoming our three Juilliard Curriculum Specialists — Steven, Jen, and Salla — to our campus. Each of them will spend two full days with us, working side by side with our teachers, leading hands-on professional development sessions, and offering model lessons with students and interactive workshops for parents. It will be a wonderful opportunity for our entire community to experience the Juilliard approach in action.
This partnership with Juilliard brings renewed energy and purpose to our Performing Arts Department. It inspires us to keep creating spaces where music, dance, and theater are not just subjects, but powerful tools to nurture confidence, empathy, and creativity in every student.
We feel excited, grateful, and ready for what’s ahead. The arts continue to open doors, connect hearts, and remind us that dreaming through creativity is one of the most meaningful journeys we can offer our students.
