Each year, our Infant Years community comes together to celebrate the magic, creativity, and joy of the holiday season. This year’s Christmas presentation was a particularly meaningful one, inspired by the timeless story of TheNutcracker, a classic ballet that has captivated audiences around the world for more than a century. With its themes of courage, imagination, generosity, and the triumph of goodness. The Nutcracker offered our young learners a rich canvas through which to explore storytelling, expression, and artistic creation.

At Saint George School, these presentations are far more than performances; they are opportunities for children to authentically engage in the learning process. Under the thoughtful adaptation and musical direction of our Music Teacher, Jessica Lazala, this year’s production was designed specifically for our youngest, honoring both the developmental needs and the expressive potential of our students. By participating in this adaptation, children were encouraged to take creative risks, collaborate as a community, and experience the pride that comes from bringing a story to life.

One of the most cherished traditions in Infant School is that the children themselves take part in creating the visual world of each performance. Throughout the term, students work on scenery and costume pieces as classroom projects, painting backdrops, crafting props, and designing elements that reflect their interpretation of the narrative. These experiences not only nurture fine motor skills and artistic confidence but also allow the children to see their work valued and celebrated in a meaningful public setting.

Christmas presentations are always a culmination of both academic and social-emotional learning for the first term of the year. Children learn to rehearse respectfully, support their classmates, wait for their moment on stage, and celebrate the accomplishments of others. It is a space where resilience, empathy, and teamwork shine just as brightly as the holiday lights.

After the performance, our Infant Years students enjoyed a joyful farewell celebration, their final day of school before the holiday break. Students joined together to share a special lunch, dance, and enjoy time as a community. As is tradition, the day ended with a visit from Santa, who arrived to bring cheer, magic, and a sense of wonder to our children. His presence is always a highlight, reminding us of the innocence and excitement that define early years.

These moments, presenting on stage, creating with their hands, celebrating with friends, capture the heart of our mission in Infant Years. They honor the belief that learning is joyful, collaborative, and deeply connected to children’s natural curiosity and imagination. We are incredibly proud of our students, our teachers, and of the community that continues to make these experiences possible.

As we conclude this festive season, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our families for their partnership, and to our educators for their dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to the growth and happiness of every child.

From all of us in Infant Years, we wish you a peaceful holiday season filled with warmth, wonder, and togetherness.
