SISD renews long standing partnership with Speedo Swim Academy

The partnership dates back to 2018, born from a shared vision between SISD and Speedo Swim Squads: excellence, professionalism and a commitment to nurturing students while providing them with the opportunities they need to reach their full potential. What initially began as a shared vision has evolved into a comprehensive programme at SISD, supporting students at every step of their journey, from learning the basics of swimming to taking part in competitive programs.

A Programme Built for Student-Athletes

Today, the programme provides a holistic approach to swimming development. From first lessons to competitive squads, our programmes are designed around realistic progression, combining high-quality coaching, physical preparation, education and student-athlete guidance to support students at every stage.

Comprehensive swimming programs designed for every age and skill level, from first
steps to taking part in challenging competitions.

A key element is the delivery and support of the SISD swimming curriculum, with a dedicated team providing full-time aquatics and swimming expertise. This includes the operation of the SISD Swimming Centre of Excellence (SCE), supported by a full-time School Aquatics/Swim Lead and Coach, a full-time Swim Teacher and additional part-time Swim Teachers.

The programme provides students with access to:

• Pool-based swimming and technical training.
• Land and gym-based physical preparation.
• Classroom-based learning linked to swimming performance and athlete development.
• A structured pathway from learn-to-swim through to competitive performance.
• Student-athlete guidance and support.
• Continuing Professional Development for SISD PE and teaching staff.
• Annual professional development for the full-time Lead Coach and Teacher.

This integrated approach reflects the belief that training an athlete is about much more than performance in the pool. Students are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, discipline and independence, qualities that support them both in their careers and beyond.

A Journey From Student to Athlete

One of the strongest examples of the impact of the SISD and Speedo programme is the story of SISD student-athlete Kyan Chachay, who has recently been selected for the French National Team, an exciting milestone in his development as a swimmer.

Kyan’s swimming journey began at just five years old, when he joined Speedo Swim Squads. Over the years, his passion for swimming has continued to grow, alongside his commitment to training, learning and developing as an athlete.

Reflecting on his experience, Kyan says that he “quickly developed a love for the sport” and has enjoyed every training session since he started. His recent selection for the French National Team is a reflection of years of dedication, perseverance and consistent development — from a five-year-old discovering a love for swimming to a young athlete now competing at national level.

Kyan’s story is a powerful example of what the SISD and Speedo programme aims to achieve, supporting students not only in becoming stronger athletes, but in becoming confident, resilient young people prepared for the next stage of their journey.

Looking Ahead

From the initial building blocks in 2018 to the development of the SISD Swimming Centre of Excellence today, the partnership has continued to grow, and its next chapter promises to be just as ambitious, creating an environment where students can aspire for excellence

Together, the commitment remains to building a pathway through which students can discover their potential, achieve excellence and develop the skills, confidence and resilience that will stay with them well beyond their time in the pool.
