Thai: Meeting Khun Prapas Cholsaranon On the last day of High School Book Week, the Thai Department was pleased to welcome a special guest, Mr. Prapas Cholsaranon, at Jo Adamson Theatre.

On the last day of High School Book Week at St Andrews International School Bangkok, the Thai Department was pleased to welcome a special guest, Mr. Prapas Cholsaranon, at Jo Adamson Theatre.

Last Friday,  30th November was a day for the St Andrews community to dress up as their favourite book characters as part of High School Book Week. Thai teachers were no exception as they joined the school event and had fun showing off their elaborate costumes.  The Thai Department also contributed to this celebration of reading by welcoming a special guest, Mr. Prapas Cholsaranon, at Jo Adamson Theatre at the High School Blue Building.

Mr. Prapas is Deputy Chairman and Board Member of a television channel, Workpoint Entertainment Public Co., Ltd, which he also co-established. He is also well recognised and respected in Thai society as a songwriter, music producer, film producer, director and writer. He has produced various popular show programmes reflecting Thai wisdom including Khun Pra Chuay Sam Dang Sod in concert, Hom Rong the Musical, short animation films “Yak, The Giant King” and “Feed” which won the World Best Animated Short Film Award 2014 in the U.S.A.

Students in Years 10 -13,  parents and High School Thai teachers attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed Mr Prapas’ talk. Pat and Sai in Year 13 served as the event's MCs and interviewed him about his life, his influences and his experiences creating and relying on various types of media to inspire others.

Mr Prapas gave a very insightful, meaningful and enjoyable talk covering several social issues and emphasising the role of creativity in his life. His powerful message conveyed his passion for his work. He was also impressed with our own students’ singing and performances of a few of his inspiring songs.

Here are some reflections shared by a few students:

At the end of the event, teachers, students and parents eagerly lined up for photos with him and to ask him to sign their copies of favourite books written by Khun Prapas.
