Story Sacks

Story Sacks - story-sacks
Story Sacks The children in Reception always love stories!

The children in Reception always love stories!

They enjoy listening to a story each day as a way to end the day together, but also then taking on the role of storyteller in their play and retelling familiar books to each other. They listen attentively, join in with repetitive phrases and use their voices to show different characters, which all supports their development of Communication and Language in these early years. The Reception classes have been enjoying some new Story Sacks as they read 'The Little Red Hen', 'Giraffes Can't Dance' and 'What the Ladybird Heard'. In the sacks are puppets, toys, props, story mats, non-fiction books and vocabulary games to help them develop a deep familiarity with the text, use new vocabulary in context and articulate their thoughts in well-formed sentences. They are also learning valuable skills of playing cooperatively, taking turns with others and building respectful relationships.
