Festival Details
Through Disney Imagination Campus workshops, students will uncover the science behind Disney’s iconic attractions, explore the engineering and storytelling involved in theme park design, and examine how technology and music work together to create immersive guest experiences. Complementing this, students will take part in a series of “Exploring Exoplanet” themed workshops at Windermere Preparatory School led by the Regional STEAM Leads for The Americas Region. Students will apply these same principles of innovation and creativity through hands-on challenges in aerospace engineering, robotics, and astrobiology.
Our STEAM Festival will include the following workshops:
Disney Imagination Campus:
Technology of Disney Parks
In this unique science workshop at EPCOT's Imagination Campus Facility, students will learn the role that physics plays in the design and operation of Disney theme park attractions and entertainment—exploring Newton’s laws of motion, gravity, and potential and kinetic energy. Students will step into the shoes of a Disney Imagineer and explore how these concepts are applied in real-world theme park environments.
Theme Park Design
At Magic Kingdom, students will discover how Disney Imagineers combine imagination with large-scale functionality. This workshop introduces concepts in design, visual storytelling, and practical layout. From flow management to maintenance planning, students will gain a deeper understanding of how world-class theme parks are made possible.
Physics of Disney Parks
In this workshop at Hollywood Studios, students will explore how Disney Imagineers use physics, engineering, and storytelling to bring attractions to life. From animatronics to light and sound effects, students will get a behind-the-scenes look at how immersive experiences are powered by STEAM disciplines.
Music in Storytelling
At EPCOT, students will explore how Disney theme parks use music to enhance storytelling and guest experience. Through listening exercises and cultural exploration, students will learn how music creates emotion, sets tone, and builds immersive, inclusive environments—without needing music theory or composition knowledge.
Immersive Storytelling
At Animal Kingdom, students will explore how Disney Imagineers create multi-sensory experiences through attractions, music, performances, and design. With hands-on activities, students will learn the early creative process of developing theme park experiences and how the five senses are used to engage audiences in immersive storytelling.
Windermere Preparatory School:
Rocket Design & Launch Challenge
Students will work in small teams to design, build, and launch model rockets using safe, low-power engines, aiming to “reach” a target exoplanet through accuracy and performance challenges. They’ll learn about thrust, aerodynamics, and payload design, then compete to see whose rocket travels the furthest.
Build-a-bot: Mars Mission Simulation
Using construction-kit robots, students will explore model exoplanet landscapes, to learn more about the planet’s terrain and conditions. Participants will design robots to perform simulated “Mars mission” tasks—collecting samples, avoiding hazards, and delivering payloads. Each team’s robot will face mission objectives that mimic real NASA challenges.
Life Among the Stars: Lifeform Design
In this workshop, students will step into the role of astrobiologists to imagine what life might look like on distant exoplanets. Working in teams, they’ll study their planet’s unique conditions, brainstorm possible survival challenges, and design an alien lifeform adapted to thrive there. Using sketches, creative materials, and scientific reasoning, they’ll bring their creatures to life with models and backstories.

Our Venues
Disney Imagination Campus is an educational initiative by Disney that provides immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Through workshops led by Disney professionals, students explore real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math—all integrated into Disney’s creative environment. Surrounded by innovation and storytelling, students are encouraged to think critically and dream boldly.
Windermere Preparatory School, located on a scenic 48-acre campus in Windermere, Florida, offers an inspiring environment for STEAM learning. With state-of-the-art labs, makerspaces, and a robotics facility, students engage in interdisciplinary experiences that encourage exploration and innovation through hands-on learning.
