Congratulations to our Graduating Class of 2022

Our Year 13 IB Diploma Graduation Ceremony was held on 2nd June and the BSB Community was invited to join the ceremony online and to share in the celebration of our student's achievement and success!

The Graduation Ceremony began with a welcome speech from our Head of Secondary Mr.  Bevan Graham. Click here to watch the video.

“Your teachers and school are extremely proud that you have reached this important milestone and it is a time for great celebration.

I have confidence that all of you will succeed. You are part of the privileged few who have the potential to be agents of change. Armed with a world class education you have the power to make a difference. On your journey on behalf of the British School of Beijing, I wish you nothing but the best.”

Then a very touching moment when our Assistant Head of Secondary and IB Coordinator Ms. Sarah Donnelly individually addressed each one of our graduates.

“It is important to get to feel proud of yourself. It is important to work hard towards a goal and then feel the satisfaction of achieving it. In my view, this is what makes life meaningful. I wanted you all to experience that. Congratulations to the graduating class of 2022: you did it!”

Next our Head Girl Hazel Lee and Head Boy Adrian Pailler reflected on their journey at BSB, thanking their peers for being by their side during all the laughter and tears, and expressing their gratitude to their teachers and parents for their ongoing love and support. On closing, our Principal Mrs Jayne Needham offered a few words of advice to our graduates too. Click here to watch the video.

“As a school, we prepare you for what lies ahead, and we let you go with joy, knowing that you are starting the first step on a hugely exciting next adventure, well prepared for whatever lies ahead.

Class of 2022, your friends, your teachers, your home room teachers, your coordinators and Heads of Year and your parents have been your rock, your stability, your guides and your stable bows.  Now you need to fly, fly swift, fly far, fly straight.  Keep your eye on the mark on the path of the infinite but sometimes, look behind you, glance back to see where you came from, how far you have come, what shaped you and acknowledge your gratitude for the stable bows that let you fly.

Good luck, BSB Class of 2022.”

After this formal ceremony has ended, the graduates, their families and the Y13 teachers joined together for an online Graduation Party as well.

We are very proud of each and every one of you. We are confident that you will leave BSB with everything you need for success – whatever you choose to be or do in life.
