On Wednesday 23rd September, the Year 13 IB Geography class set off to downtown Beijing on a field trip. The trip was planned to enable students to collect data in order to complete their internal assessment.

The research question was ‘Does urban stress decrease with distance from the centre of Beijing?” To enable them to answer this question they needed to measure different factors that lead to urban stress such as noise, air quality, traffic congestion and the quality of the environment.

The students stopped 15 times between Dongzhimen and the 6th ring road collecting data. The weather was far from ideal however, the students worked well in the conditions and collected the required data. The trip was a success and lunch was delicious! Thank you Mr Zheng for your recommendation!
