German Year 1 - A river, a sailboat, a bridge

Respekt!

A river, a sailboat, a bridge…and GY1

These are the four items for the following task: Build a bridge across a river that is high and wide enough for a sailboat to pass. Our building material was wooden blocks of various shapes. Wow. This was really a task that required a lot of ingenuity, spatial thinking and fine motor skills and was not easy without a sketch.

Each student had to work on his own, because each one had different building blocks available. First, the children look puzzled but very soon, they changed to highly concentrated and tireless builders. Nevertheless, the first bridges were too low, so we got stuck with our poles. However, already in the second (or third) attempt, the boat went underneath the bridges.

The students created real examples of architecture, each one an aesthetic masterpiece. Very well done!
