Head of Year 11, English Teacher

I joined the English department at the British School of Beijing, Shunyi in 2015. In 2007 I graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in English Literature. When I began working in schools I was a teaching assistant but when the chance to become an English teacher arose I jumped at the chance and swiftly fell in love with the career.

Although I was born in the United Arab Emirates, I have grown up in Dorset, England. I have spent the last five years teaching at a comprehensive school in Devon. Living on the Jurassic Coast has many advantages but I decided that I wanted to broaden my horizons and when an opportunity to work in China appeared it was too good to miss.

In class I hope to transfer my passion for the subject to all of my students so that they can appreciate the subject as much as I do myself.

As an English teacher I am an avid reader and enjoy blogging and creative writing. However, outside of the classroom I enjoy sports, the arts and travel.
