Lyndsey Marcu

Year 4 Lilac Teacher

BA (Hons) Theology & Education studies with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Ripon and York St. John University College

Lyndsey enjoyed a successful gap year teaching English as a foreign language in a Romanian Primary school. Afterwards she completed 4 years of study at Ripon & York St. John University College and began teaching in 2003. Her first post was in an International British school in Romania. During her time there she was promoted to Head of Key Stage 1. She also set up a variety of successful projects including a service-based project with local charities, leading weekly art therapy sessions for disadvantaged children and running a monthly story time hour at a local English bookstore.

Lyndsey joined NAE in Bratislava in 2008 before moving to BISB as Key Stage 1 teacher in 2012. She has taken full advantage of the opportunities offered through Nord Anglia University and completed the Middle Leadership Programme in 2010.

Lyndsey is committed to making learning fun and accessible for all students. She thrives in watching each child grow and learn about themselves and the world around them.  She values the importance of play and a caring learning environment that allows children to feel safe and happy.  She believes school should be a place where children can be ambitious and thrive, given the right tools.

In her spare time, Lyndsey enjoys leading a variety of charitable projects which include knitting scarves, running summer camps for disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe and developing educational materials that can be used to teach life skills for Roma children.  She also enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their families in Ireland and Romania.
