THE BIS BUDAPEST IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

BISB is proud to be one of the top-performing International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in Budapest.

The IB Diploma Programme is a comprehensive, two-year course for 16 to 18-year-olds. It’s unique because it isn’t based on a particular national education system; instead, it provides a balance between global experiences and academic specialisation. This develops the skills required by the world’s leading universities and employers.

OUR IB PROGRAMME SUBJECT GROUPS EXPLAINED

At BIS Budapest International Baccalaureate (IB) school, our students study six subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and Creative Arts. Three of these subject groups are taken at higher level and three at standard level.

Your child will also need to complete the core IB programme – Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service – to achieve their full Diploma.
  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): a course that explores critical thinking, giving students an understanding of how we learn.
  • The Extended Essay: a 4,000-word independent research project focusing on a specific subject.
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): a range of activities that develop creative skills, enhance wellbeing, and support our community.
