Kevin Swaine

Kevin Swaine

Head of World Languages and Language Development Director

Kevin started his teaching career in 2000 after three successful years working in multilingual sales and service for BA Aeronautical & Maritime in London. His first post was in a large comprehensive school with Language College status near Oxford, after which he returned to London to lead the development of a new languages department in a new academy. While in London, Kevin completed the Middle Leadership Development Programme with NCSL as well as a CELTA course with Hammersmith and West London College. Following his position in London, Kevin took up his first international post with BISB and he has been here ever since. 

Kevin joined BISB in 2008 as Head of Modern Languages. Whilst here he has taken advantage of several training courses including IB language specific training and Modern Languages programmes in the UK. Kevin has also embarked on a Distance Learning MA in Translation Studies for which he has already gained a post-graduate diploma. He is currently writing a dissertation on Translation and Teaching Methodology in order to convert the diploma into an MA.

Kevin is committed to the ideals and principles of language acquisition and development in international schools and sees his work as fundamental in preparing students for a multilingual environment both in and out of school. He is ambitious for the students in his classes, believing that through their education at BISB, they will be equipped to communicate and operate effectively in whichever career they choose wherever they may end up working throughout the world.

In his spare time Kevin enjoys sport, particularly football, cycling and swimming. He also enjoys travelling where he relishes the opportunity to practise his existing linguistic skills or to rise to the challenge of learning new languages.
