Linda spent the first part of her visit enthralling students during assembly. She shared her experiences and aspirations as a young writer and explained how she never gave up on her dream, even though she was at first rejected by publishers – paying testament to one of the school’s values, resilience. She then worked closely with students from Years 4, 5 and 6, discussing their ideas and helping them to shape stories, as well as teaching strategies to make their writing engaging. The students thoroughly enjoyed the workshops, learning new techniques to craft their own stories and then critiquing those of their peers. Linda brought the day to a close by signing the students’ books.
Linda has since been in contact with the school to thank the students for the day. “It was a great pleasure to spend the day in your lovely school – I really enjoyed working with the students,” she wrote.
