In Term 2, students  from Year 9, 10 and 11 have taken part in a variety of maths competitions and have achieved some outstanding successes.

In February, Year 11 competed in the American Maths Challenge, and we are delighted to share that Jong Whi Kim and Ashwaty Nambiar finished in first and second place nationally.

Students also competed in the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) intermediate competition where we scored an astonishing 14 Gold, 15 Silver and 10 Bronze awards.  A Gold is awarded only to the top 5% of entrants: the fact that this competition is only entered by the highest achieving students globally illustrates just how fantastic our students' achievements are.  But they weren’t finished there!  With a total of approximately 100,000 Year 9 students entering the Intermediate award, it is hugely impressive to see two of our students perform in the top 500. Huge congratulations to Nour Elkot and Alif Nafili who managed to qualify, and particularly to Alif, who gained a Merit.

Year 7 and 8 are the next year groups to compete and will sit the UKMT Junior Challenge in Term 3.  We are looking forward to seeing if they can maintain the high standards set by Year 9, 10 and 11.
